Poinsettia Cuttings 9-28-2011

One of the older poinsettias was looking rather scraggly, so it had a haircut today. Some of the cuttings got stuck in sand.

Yes, it has its foibles, but my process of learning to apply Ami Simm's Ladder stitch approach to hand sewing has begun.

J-8 Granny Weaver

J-8 Granny Weaver -- Just 15 more DJ blocks for Attic Treasures. I finished 1/4 of B-3 Mirror Image at noon using the ladder stitch -- it made the smoothest curve I've yet to make by hand.

Hunter and Hope

Since Hunter's decline, Hope has protected him. She has been his Guardian Angel. Today as we led him down to his final resting place Hope began to call to Hunter.  He called back to her.  She broke through the gate of the corral where the other horses were being kept and ran down to him.  He quieted and she stayed near him. We stayed with Hunter, touching him and talking to him until the end. Hope also stayed with him until the end.  As soon as Hunter was gone, Hope left and went back to the other horses:  Hunter was no longer there and he no longer needed her.

Today's efforts, Monday, Sept. 19, 2011

The main task I will remember from today is shredding Hunter's last cubes. He will be sorely missed when he leaves tomorrow; we comfort ourselves thinking he'll have a dignified exit. We are fortunate that his jaw didn't burst and/or that he didn't fall and do himself grievous injury.

As for quilting: I finished the second row of the "Wild Horses" quilt and I made a DJ block:

Just thought I'd let you know that I finished a Dear Jane block today -- the first one in since Christmas. Here's a picture to WOW you.
